Call forwarding codes for United States

Get United States mobile call forwarding instructions. Choose your provider and destination number below.

Set up your call cover

Country
Resellers use the codes of the network they run on. We'll tell you which one.
How should calls reach you?Verizon: reference code coverage is Unanswered + Busy. No activation code is published for: Phone off or no signal. See the provider/device alternatives below.
Advanced: choose an individual forwarding condition
Use a domestic number for the selected country. We format it the way Verizon asks for it. Plan and destination restrictions below still apply.

Verizon: let me answer first

Before you change anything: check and record the current destination for each selected condition. Confirm plan restrictions and charges, and select the correct SIM.

The activation codes below use an example number. Enter your own valid domestic destination above; copying activation or downloading this setup stays disabled until then.

Reference code coverage: Unanswered + Busy. Do not treat this as covering every conditional call.

Turn on

Enter this command manually in your dial pad, then press Call/Send and wait for carrier confirmation. This page never dials a code.

Unanswered + Busy

*712025550123

Phone off or no signal — no published activation code: Verizon doesn't publish a code for forwarding only when your phone is off or has no signal. Use *71 for unanswered and busy calls, or ask Verizon on 800-922-0204.

Verizon forwards unanswered calls after 3 to 6 rings. You can't set the ring time with a code.

Turn off all forwarding — review first

Warning: this provider's off command stops all forwarding, not just this setup. It can remove other forwarding too. Record existing settings and ask your provider before using it if you need to keep them.

All-forwarding off command — not just the conditions above

*73

Stopping forwarding is not necessarily restoring the previous voicemail or other destination. Restore recorded destinations separately using your provider's instructions, then test.

Check before and after

No reliable status code is published for these conditions. Inspect the provider app or phone settings, or ask the provider.

After setting up forwarding, call your business number from another phone to check that calls reach your receptionist when you expect. After turning forwarding off, check that calls ring through normally again.

  • On Verizon, *71 covers both unanswered and busy calls in one setting, and *73 turns off all forwarding.
  • Verizon only forwards to 10-digit US numbers (include the area code), and you have to set it from your phone while on Verizon's network.
  • Verizon says forwarded calls are billed like normal calls if you don't have unlimited minutes. Most plans have no monthly fee for forwarding; some older plans do.

Every code here is from Verizon's own support pages. Verizon uses its own star codes, not the ** codes other networks use.

Optional: all-call forwarding after work

Your finish-work shortcuts

Choose your provider and destination above, then keep these two steps handy. This routine uses all-call forwarding, independently of the individual code mode selected above. You make each switch yourself.

Ask your provider for a routine that preserves any existing conditional forwarding. The published *73 off code is shared by immediate and conditional forwarding; this tool does not offer it as an all-calls-only daily shortcut.

Before starting, note any existing all-calls destination. Turning forwarding off does not restore that old route. Keep your separate busy, unanswered and unreachable settings; don’t use “cancel all”. Check your plan restrictions and forwarding charges.

Enter your own valid destination above to prepare and save the routine. No example number will be saved.

Finish work

Turn on All calls / Always forward to your Infercall number.

Back at work

Use the provider/device instructions to turn off that same all-calls setting, or leave Infercall answering. This stops that route; restore any previous destination separately if needed. Do not use a broad reset to preserve other diverts.

Check before you put the phone away

  1. Follow the confirmation shown on your phone, then test the change.
  2. No verified status code for this routine: inspect the provider app or phone settings.
  3. Call your business number from another phone after each change. Check the expected answer, normal ringing and existing voicemail or overflow.
Save this routine for tomorrow

Save only on your own device. “Save on this browser” stores the provider, destination and device choice locally until you clear it or browser data is removed. A Home Screen shortcut opens the tool, not a carrier command. Use “Load saved routine” here when you return.

iPhone: in Safari, Share → Add to Home Screen → Add. Android: in Chrome’s menu, use the website shortcut / Add to Home screen option (wording varies). You can bookmark this page instead.

iPhone blocks forwarding-code links. Saved contact/speed-dial support for these service codes has not been verified; we don’t offer an installable one-tap dial shortcut. Copy or download the instructions, then use the provider’s manual route.

How call forwarding works

A call comes in to your mobile. What happens next depends on which forwarding you've turned on:

A call comes in
Conditional · most common

1. When you don't answer (after X rings)

Your phone rings→no answer after the ring time→forwards

You still answer when you can. Ring time is set in seconds, roughly 5 seconds per ring, so 20 seconds is about 4 rings.

Conditional

2. When you're busy

You're on another call→forwards straight away

Only calls that arrive while you're on the phone (and on many phones, calls you decline).

Conditional

3. When your phone is off or has no signal

Network can't reach your phone→forwards

Covers a flat battery, flight mode or no coverage.

Unconditional

4. Always (all calls)

Your phone doesn't ring→every call forwards

For after hours, holidays or when you can't take calls at all. If it's on, it overrides the other three.

Types 1 to 3 are called conditional forwarding. Your provider may support only some of them, combine conditions in one command or require app settings. Follow the selected setup and its matching undo. A broad reset can remove voicemail routes too; restore previous destinations separately.

Recommended setup for a business: forward when you don't answer, when you're busy and when your phone is off, where your provider supports those conditions, all to your answering number. With no-answer forwarding, your phone rings first, so you pick up the calls you can, and the rest are still answered.

Ring time by network
  • Verizon: Verizon forwards unanswered calls after 3 to 6 rings. You can't set the ring time with a code.
  • AT&T: no code for unanswered calls; set it in your phone's call forwarding settings.
  • T-Mobile: you choose 5 to 30 seconds in the code (about 1 ring to about 6 rings).

Call forwarding codes: common questions

How do I turn off call forwarding or cancel a call divert?

Use the Turn off steps for your selected provider and the conditions you enabled. There is no universal cancellation code. A broad reset can also remove forwarding to voicemail. Restore any previous destinations separately, then test from another phone.

What call forwarding codes does Verizon use?

Every code here is from Verizon's own support pages. Verizon uses its own star codes, not the ** codes other networks use. Choose Verizon in the provider selector for its activation, turn-off and status instructions. Verizon forwards unanswered calls after 3 to 6 rings. You can't set the ring time with a code.

What call forwarding codes does AT&T use?

AT&T publishes the code for forwarding all calls. For the other types it points you to your phone's call forwarding settings instead of giving codes, so we don't show any. Choose AT&T in the provider selector for its activation, turn-off and status instructions. See its ring-time options and plan restrictions alongside the setup.

What call forwarding codes does T-Mobile use?

Every code here is from T-Mobile's own short-code page. Choose T-Mobile in the provider selector for its activation, turn-off and status instructions. See its ring-time options and plan restrictions alongside the setup.

How many rings before call forwarding?

Ring time depends on your provider. Where it supports an adjustable time, choose the seconds in the tool. Otherwise follow the provider’s fixed ring-time note. One ring is roughly five seconds; test the result from another phone.

What’s the difference between conditional and unconditional call forwarding?

Conditional forwarding covers supported unanswered, busy or unreachable calls. All-call forwarding sends every call straight to the destination without ringing your phone. If all-call forwarding is on, it takes priority.

Can I forward only when busy?

Choose your provider, then open the individual forwarding conditions. Some providers combine busy and unanswered calls or require phone settings instead of a code. The selected setup shows the conditions actually covered.

Does my mobile provider support forwarding?

Choose your United States mobile provider above to see its codes or app instructions, plan restrictions and charges. If it is not listed, check your provider’s current support instructions. Choose your mobile provider

Which type of call forwarding should I use?

You choose. Use “Let me answer first” for the supported busy, unanswered and unreachable conditions, or choose all calls when you want every call to go to your receptionist. Check the coverage shown for your provider.

Does call forwarding cost extra?

It depends on your provider and plan. Read the charges and eligibility notes beside your selected setup and follow its linked sources to confirm your current plan, especially when roaming. A reseller’s rules can differ from its host network.

Can I forward missed calls to an AI receptionist?

Yes. Use your Infercall number as the destination for your provider’s supported forwarding options. Test that calls reach your receptionist when you expect.
