Setting Up Call Forwarding
Forward calls from your existing business number to your Infercall AI receptionist. Choose your carrier or provider below for step-by-step instructions.
Forwarding guidance for United States. Change country in the site header or the forwarding tool.
How Call Forwarding Works
Call forwarding lets you redirect incoming calls from your existing business number to your Infercall phone number. You can choose to forward:
- Let me answer first — Set up the provider-supported unanswered, busy and phone-off/no-signal conditions together. Your provider may support only some of them.
- Individual conditions — An advanced choice when you want only one kind of forwarding.
- All calls — Every call goes directly to your AI receptionist, for example in an optional finish-work routine.
For mobile providers in your selected country, use the call forwarding code generator to find provider-specific activation and cancellation codes for your number.
One setup. Clear undo beside it.
Use the forwarding tool to choose your mobile provider and your own Infercall number. Start with “Let me answer first”. It shows the shortest supported commands for that provider, the exact conditions covered and matching undo, with restrictions. Landlines and hosted phone systems have separate instructions further down this guide.
- Check and record the current destination for every condition before changing anything. Confirm plan restrictions, charges and the correct SIM.
- Follow each distinct provider-supported command manually and wait for carrier confirmation. There is no universal “all conditional” activation shortcut.
- Use status checks where published, then call your business number from another phone. Test each selected condition, normal ringing and voicemail/overflow.
- To undo, use the adjacent turn-off steps for those conditions. Stopping a divert does not necessarily restore your previous voicemail or destination. Restore recorded routes separately and test again. Broad resets are not the normal undo.
Download the selected setup and its matching undo on your own device. The private file includes coverage, restrictions, restoration warnings and your destination number. Follow the confirmation shown on your phone, then test the change.
For after-hours use, the tool also has a separate finish-work all-calls routine. In the morning, turn off that same all-calls setting—or leave Infercall answering. Do not cancel every divert.

Do not assume the unsupported conditions are covered. Turn off only the conditions shown here. This stops that forwarding; it does not necessarily restore your previous voicemail or other destination. AT&T publishes the code for forwarding all calls. For the other types it points you to your phone's call forwarding settings instead of giving codes, so we don't show any. AT&T says you can only change forwarding from your phone, not online, and forwarding overrides your AT&T voicemail. AT&T bills forwarded calls for the length of the call. Long distance or roaming charges may apply, and some plans don't count forwarded minutes against your allowance. No international numbers. AT&T doesn't publish a code for this. On Android, open the Phone app > Settings > Calling accounts > Call forwarding > When unanswered. Otherwise ask AT&T to set it up. AT&T doesn't publish a code for this. *71[INFERCALL_NUMBER]*73Forward When Busy
*71[INFERCALL_NUMBER]*73Use a 10-digit US destination number, without +1. Verizon forwards unanswered calls after 3 to 6 rings. You can't set the ring time with a code. Let me answer first: 1 distinct command(s); code coverage: Unanswered, Busy. Do not assume the unsupported conditions are covered. Warning: this provider's off command stops all forwarding, not just this setup. It can remove other forwarding too. Record existing settings and ask your provider before using it if you need to keep them. Every code here is from Verizon's own support pages. Verizon uses its own star codes, not the ** codes other networks use. On Verizon, *71 covers both unanswered and busy calls in one setting, and *73 turns off all forwarding. Verizon only forwards to 10-digit US numbers (include the area code), and you have to set it from your phone while on Verizon's network. Verizon says forwarded calls are billed like normal calls if you don't have unlimited minutes. Most plans have no monthly fee for forwarding; some older plans do. Verizon doesn't publish a code for forwarding only when your phone is off or has no signal. Use *71 for unanswered and busy calls, or ask Verizon on 800-922-0204.

Call forwarding isn't working
Use your provider's required number format: some require a national number, while others use a country code. Check the instructions above or the code generator. Wait for a confirmation tone or message after activating; some carriers require you to stay on the line for a few seconds.
Calls go straight to my carrier voicemail
You may need to disable your carrier's voicemail first, or set a shorter ring time for forwarding. Contact your carrier to adjust voicemail settings.
I'm being charged for forwarded calls
Most carriers treat forwarded calls as outgoing calls from your plan. Check with your carrier about forwarding rates. Consider using conditional forwarding (no-answer only) to minimize charges.
My carrier isn't listed
Check your carrier's current support instructions for your exact mobile, landline or hosted service. Do not use another carrier's codes as a substitute; forwarding eligibility, number format and cancellation codes can differ.
